For you to fully understand how deep the Andergassen family’s passion for wine growing is, we’d like to offer you a good example: Even at the ripe old age of 91, our grandmother could be found in the vineyards almost every day. Only she was allowed to tend to several vine stocks that she, herself, had cultivated and nurtured. In the meantime, the Klosterhof’s Junior Manager Hannes has taken over his grandmother’s precious vines and looks after them with meticulous care.
The Klosterhof and the wine estate have always been a family business.
The main building was constructed in 1980 and its somewhat capricious architecture filled with nooks and crannies bears testimony to its original function: a family home. It wasn’t long, however, before the Klosterhof began welcoming its first guests and the family’s devotion to wine was complemented by a second passion – a love of playing host.
Even today, the entire family still works together in the Klosterhof – starting with father and Senior Manager Oskar who, together with his wife Barbara, established the hotel as it is today and ventured to become a self-employed winemaker, to the two sons Daniel and Hannes. Both professionally trained in the field of wine growing, they are following in their ancestors’ footsteps. What unites us all? A passion for the craft of winemaking and the joy of being able to share this with our guests.
